But ultimately, the coaches have no power when the Match Review Panel are concerned. It would be extremely disappointing to see either man pick up a suspension and miss the opening rounds, but at the moment, we are unclear on how the panel will approach those types of incidents moving forward into 2023. In 2022, the RFL’s disciplinary system caused plenty of debates, including coaches of several Super League club’s wanting more clarity on the subject.

A colophon at the end declares that no one is able to recite the work in full without a book, the level of detail being too much for the memory to handle. The comment suggests it was not popular with storytellers, though this was more likely due to its position as a literary tale rather than a traditional one. There is no consensus about the ultimate meaning of The Dream of Rhonabwy. On one hand it derides Madoc’s time, which is critically compared to the illustrious Arthurian age.

Chris Pine

The word mabinogi itself is something of a puzzle, although clearly derived from the Welsh mab, which means „son, boy, young person“. Eric P. Hamp of the earlier school traditions in mythology, found a suggestive connection with Maponos „the Divine Son“, a Gaulish deity. Mabinogi properly applies only to the Four Branches, which is a tightly organised quartet very likely by one author, where the other seven are so very diverse . Each of these four tales ends with the colophon „thus ends this branch of the Mabinogi“ , hence the name.

Star Trek Into Darkness ( – Capt. James T. Kirk

Star Trek’s Chris Pine is a real charmer in this low-budget comedy, but the same can’t be said of the film itself. A muddled mix of fratboy comedy, disability drama and cross-cultural romance, it sees blind Danny attempting to meet the woman of his dreams. Egged on by his laddish brother Larry , he goes on a series of literal blind dates, only raising the odd laugh when attempting to pass himself off as a sighted person. Is it supposed to be a romantic comedy, a drama about interracial dating or perhaps a feel good story about a blind man wanting to see and finding something special instead?

What to Watch

Jane Seymour looks bewildered in a therapist role that requires her to compulsively drop her skirt, but this is harmless, breezy fluff. Despite the cast’s best efforts this is not as charming as it sets out to be. The tone changes drastically when he meets Leeza and fails to realise that she’s an Indian facing an arranged marriage. It’s Pine that keeps the whole thing afloat, and he manages, astonishingly, to make even the clunkiest, cheesiest lines work, almost transforming the film’s chocolate-box sentiments into something honest.

Contributing Editor at Total Film, writer for SFX, and senior film writer at the Radio Times. Josh has also penned a novel about mysteries and monsters, is the co-host of a movie podcast, and has a library of pretty phenomenal stories from visiting some of the biggest TV and film sets in the world. He would also like you to know that he „lives for cat videos…“ Don’t we all, Josh. This is the first movie I’ve seen in forever that made me think of Roger Ebert’s famous review of „North“ as a comparison.

Leeza is Indian and engaged but still goes out with Danny. She falls for him but chooses her fiancée over him for cultural reasons. Danny and Leeza are separated and go through some ups and downs but ultimately they end up together. If it weren’t for Chris Pine’s natural charm, this movie probably wouldn’t have been half as good. I’m not usually a fan of romantic comedies, but I found that I really liked this one, for its main character as well as those around him. I really sympathized with Danny’s desire to be independant and find love, and his blindness wasn’t so much a physical handicap for him as it was a social handicap that influenced other people’s treatment of him.

You know the one – „I hated this movie. Hated hated hated hated hated this movie.“ It was stupid, insulting, and actually offensive at times. I guess it was trying to be like „The 40-Year-Old Virgin“, which I really enjoyed, but there’s a huge difference between that movie and this one. „Virgin“ treated its main character with respect, and its characters had human flaws of their own that explained some of their antics. But this movie treats Danny like a joke surrounded by phoned-in caricatures. There’s probably a good movie out there about the social awkwardness that can result from being blind, but this is absolutely not it. To think James Keane said he was really proud of this movie.

Blind Dating’s woefully shifting tone frequently severs the audience’s involvement with the storyline. Pine works hard to demonstrate the rounded ‚warts and all‘ nature of his character, who is as stubborn as he is brave. Blind Dating is a traditional boy-meets-girl love story with an abnormal twist that propels it into the awkward and bizarre while at the same time pushing it to a level teetering towards the fresh. Ultimately, it fails at captivating attention and occasionally repulses with overtly crass sexual humor. Still, one can’t help but root for the couple as they overcome what limits them, all in the name of love.

Blind Dating also manages to be an incredibly muddled 95 minutes in which emotions are replaced by aggressive music cues to force the viewer to care for characters that are paper thin at best. 10 Stars because of how underrated this film seems to be. Chris Pine did well, as did Eddie Kaye Thomas and the other cast.

And I guess if you just came for the breasts, there’s enough of those for you. But it could have been a far better movie if they had just decided which one they wanted to make. Blind Dating is a hilarious comedy about Danny , an intelligent, confident, handsome ABDL Match young man who also happens to be blind. Not that he’s letting that hold him back for the most part, Danny refuses to let his visual impairment get in the way of anything. He’s one of the most popular guys in town, and is even an ace at basketball.
